Worldwide have been killed this year, according to reporters without borders (ROG), at least 80 journalists and other media employees because of their work. More than half of them came in only five countries, lost their lives in Afghanistan, Syria, Mexico, Yemen and India, informed the organization.

the 348 world's imprisoned journalists are sitting more than half of them in five countries, behind bars: in China, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. This is evident from the annual balance-sheet of freedom of the press in 2018.

The countries with the most journalists killed, citizen journalists and media staff were killed in Afghanistan (15 in the media), Syria (11), Mexico (9) Yemen (8) and India (6). Also in the USA, six journalists died in this year. Four of them were killed in the attack on the local newspaper "Capital Gazette" in Annapolis (state of Maryland). (roy/sda)
