The new initiative of the festival is called ‘Le Ballon Rouge’, to the eponymous film from 1956 by Albert Lamorisse. In addition to a crèche, playgrounds and borstvoedingsruimtes, there are also several child-friendly areas on the festival site. The accreditation that parents and their children need, is free.
“Although it is for everyone difficult is to find a balance between work and private life, we know that women can often be more difficult,” says Thierry Frémaux, the festival in a statement. “Film festivals have a long way to go in the family make their services and infrastructure, so the women from the film industry easier and more successes to achieve.”
