Arnold Schwarzenegger had a pacemaker fitted and became “a little more of a machine”

Arnold Schwarzenegger becomes “a little more of a machine”. Monday March 25, in the latest episode of his podcast Arnold’s Pump Club, the 76-year-old actor confided that he had undergone surgery to install a pacemaker. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he will be “100% ready next month” to resume training for Fubar, the Netflix adventure series in which he plays the lead role.

The Hollywood actor acknowledges that sharing this news "goes against a lot of my upbringing in Austria, where no one ever talked about medical issues." Despite everything, he decided to “be transparent” and talk about his medical procedure with his fans, in the hope of “helping people”. After his speech, Arnold Schwarzenegger confided that he had received numerous messages from people born with the same malformation. Fans thank him, saying that talking about his surgeries “gave them courage and hope to face theirs.”

This is far from the first time that Arnold Schwarzenegger, born with a congenital heart defect called the bicuspid aortic valve, has undergone medical surgery for his health problem. Already in 1997, when he was 50 years old, the actor and former governor of California was forced to carry out a pulmonary valve replacement, an operation which facilitates the circulation of blood from the heart to the lungs. Nearly 20 years later, he underwent open heart surgery to replace the pulmonary valve in question, at the time considered too old. In 2020, her aortic valve, which helps blood flow from the heart to the rest of the body, was replaced.

But over the years, “some scar tissue from my previous operation had made my heart rhythm irregular,” explains Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was therefore necessary to perform a new operation at the Cleveland Clinic. Fortunately for him, everything went well. “I had surgery on Monday, and on Friday, I was already at a big environmental event with my friend Jane Fonda,” he continues. No one would have ever thought I would start the week with surgery.”

The actor, known for his roles in Terminator, Around the World in Eighty Days and Batman and Robin, will therefore be able to return to film sets very soon. Currently, he is starring in Fubar, an adventure series from Netflix and broadcast since last May on the platform. “I can't do my serious gym training for a while, but I'll be 100% ready next month,” says Arnold Schwarzenegger who plays Luke, a father who discovers that he and his daughter are secretly working for the CIA For years. Season 2 is scheduled for late 2024 or early 2025, according to the specialist site Première.
