Vicar will benefit from a botanical garden, a museum, and a commitment towards heritage.

Vicar City Council is finalizing the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination. It envisages actions close to 3 million euros and will be entirely funded with Next Generation funds from European Union. This plan aims to make Vicar a sustainable tourist destination by valuing Vicar's natural, historic, and cultural heritage, creating a more attractive offer, encouraging the complementarity of it, and favoring its seasonality, territorial cohesion, and encouraging its seasonality.

There are twenty actions that will be taken in the plan around four axes. The first will be actions in the area of green and sustainable transformation, such as the creation of viewpoints or a botanical garden to conserve the Sierra de Gador's flora.

The second axis will focus on energy efficiency and adaptation of trails in southern Sierra de Gador. It also addresses energy efficiency in tourist buildings.

A web portal and mobile application will be created in the digital transition field. There will also be a digital marketing campaign. Two virtual reality rooms will be created, one in the museum, and one in the interpretation center. The final action in the area of competitiveness includes important actions such as the Archaeological and Ethnographic Museum for Vicar, the enhancement and recovery of the Argaric archaeological site, and the restoration of the Roman Aqueduct from the Veinte Ojos.

Antonio Bonilla, Vicar's mayor, believes that to turn Vicar into a sustainable tourist destination it will take a broad intervention. This is possible only with the involvement of all actors (public and private) in our tourism ecosystem.

Bonilla is a staunch defender of Vicar's vast heritage. She believes that the Penon de Bernal's natural, geological, landscape, and cinematographic environments have incalculable values that have served to seduce everyone who views them from any angle. This heritage also requires specific actions for enhancement and protection.

The Consistory will present the plan to the public before it is presented. This is to get the opinions of citizens and other sectors related to tourism. A survey was launched to solicit citizens' opinions and suggestions regarding the plans. Meetings are also being held with representatives of the tourism industry, as well as groups, associations and municipalities. .
