Seniors brutally attacked and murdered in apartments - police catch suspects

After two robberies in Berlin and Saxony-Anhalt and a series of other robberies on old people, the police arrested three suspected perpetrators. The men, aged 22, 23 and 37, were arrested in Berlin last Wednesday, the public prosecutor announced on Monday. Police are still looking for other suspects.

The alleged gang of robbers is said to have killed a 67-year-old in Annaburg in Saxony-Anhalt in August. The woman was found dead in a family home on August 19. Shortly thereafter, the gang is said to have killed an 83-year-old man in Berlin-Reinickendorf in the Märkisches Viertel. An acquaintance of the man found the body on August 22nd.

In addition, the suspects are said to have attacked other elderly people in their apartments in Berlin between July 1st and September 1st, in some cases seriously injuring them. In some cases, other perpetrators are said to have been involved. The arrested suspects live in Berlin and, according to the information, are partly of Serbian and German nationality.

On July 1, an 81-year-old man and his 87-year-old wife were ambushed, tied up, threatened and beaten by four attackers in the Märkisches Viertel in Berlin. The perpetrators fled with stolen money. The couple was able to free themselves but suffered serious head injuries.

On July 25, two men attacked, tied up and robbed an 82-year-old man in his apartment in the Märkisches Viertel. A 78-year-old man was attacked, tied up and beaten by four men in his home in Moabit on August 25. On September 1st, again in the Märkisches Viertel, an 80-year-old woman was attacked by five men and threatened to hand over money.
