He is said to have administered a deadly drug injection to a 43-year-old

A 48-year-old man has had to answer to the Hamburg Regional Court since Friday for administering a lethal injection in front of a drug facility. Prosecutors allege that the accused injected another man with a mixture of heroin and cocaine with his consent.

After the injection on May 24 of this year, the 43-year-old suffered cardiac arrest, lost consciousness and later died. Witnesses are said to have warned the accused against taking too high a dose, since the younger man had never used drugs before.

The 48-year-old is charged with causing fatal injury and negligently causing death by administering narcotics. Another allegation is theft in a particularly serious case: He is said to have stolen the wallet from the already unconscious man. It contained ID cards and 48 cents in cash, according to prosecutors.

After reading the indictment, the defense attorney stated that his client would not comment on the matter. According to a court spokesman, the chairman of the criminal chamber, Matthias Steinmann, read a note from an earlier hearing. Accordingly, the accused denied having administered the injection. The witnesses argued with him and wrongly accused him.

A first witness said in court on Friday that she had been told that the accused had given the injection. But she didn't see it herself. Like the victim, the accused is from Afghanistan.
