Donald Trump has lost his political flair

If there's something that bothers narcissist Donald Trump the most, it's a lack of attention. In this respect, the ex-president must have been particularly annoyed that his former home broadcaster Fox News did not even broadcast the announcement of his renewed presidential candidacy in its entirety on Tuesday.

The speech of the now 76-year-old was more useful than most of his other statements in the past two years. Gasoline prices are historically high and will continue to rise, with him in the White House there would have been no Ukraine war, millions of illegal immigrants are coming to the United States - according to Trump's theses.

If he had only focused on these key points in the past few months, he would still have the best chance of becoming president. But instead he annoyed for two years with untenable allegations of manipulation because of the 2020 election and supported some illustrious candidates in the midterm elections, which confirm his paranoia.

At least he was smart enough not to aggressively repeat his allegations on Tuesday. But overall, Trump seems to have lost touch with the sensitivities of his voters.

Trump has almost completely ignored the big issue of trans rights and the teaching of sexual diversity in the classroom and left it to his new opponent within the party, Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida. But it is this issue that is currently mobilizing right-wing voters in particular.

Trump's waning political acumen was evident towards the end of his presidency. Instead of calling on older voters to vote by mail, he expressed doubts about the legality of this form of voting before the election, which, according to the Secretary of the Interior there, cost him crucial votes in the Peach State in Georgia.

Instead of arranging another round of the extremely popular aid payments to his fellow citizens before the election, Trump preferred to duck away. The fact that he still only narrowly lost the election shows that voters in the USA don't really have much to do with the Democrats either.

Trump was once able to brilliantly exploit this dislike. Portraying Hillary Clinton as the ultimate representative of the saturated establishment was one of the most effective campaign tactics ever.

The machinations of Joe Biden's son, Hunter, who has spent much of his adult life making money from his famous surname, were also basically good instincts. Voters far into the left of the political spectrum reject the nepotism and self-righteous arbitrariness of the political establishment.

However, Trump's now hinted return to the everyday issues that concern Americans may come too late. The once charismatic political career changer has lost the aura of inviolability anyway, and his harping on alleged election fraud makes him appear tearful.

Since the party has a new beacon of hope in Ron DeSantis, it has also become apparent that many voters may end up being just as disloyal and unprincipled as Trump himself. Until recently, it seemed as if Trump might have a chance of re-election, now it is not even agreed that his party would nominate him again for the highest office in the state. It's his own fault.
