Company exchanges 22,000 liters of cooking oil for beer

A company in Middle Franconia uses the advertising stunt of a Munich brewery for a barter transaction. She exchanges 22,000 liters of cooking oil for the same amount of beer. The Lesch employees in Thalmässing (Roth district) can now look forward to free beer, and the restaurateurs at the Giesinger brewery in Munich to supplies for their kitchen.

The background to the exchange is an appeal by the brewery on social media in June that guests could temporarily pay for their beer with cooking oil, because this was temporarily more difficult to deliver in the catering trade due to the Ukraine war. The Lesch company, which actually collects used fats and processes them into biofuels, bought the 22,000 liters of cooking oil in the Ukraine in the spring, claiming to support the economy there.

The 22,000 liters are now to be successively exchanged for each other, spokesman Hubert Zenk said on Wednesday. Media had previously reported about it. "We're still thinking about what exactly we're going to do with all the beer," said Zenk. However, it is clear that it will not be sold. "We want to use it for a good cause." And Lesch's employees should also benefit from it.
