Activities for schoolchildren before the Renaissance Festival

The Renaissance Festival will be back in 2022, even though it was absent for two years, despite the fact that there was an earlier version. This is to mark the anniversary of the City's designation as a World Heritage Site. The activities that were aimed at Secondary and Primary students will also return. A playful and educational initiative that was launched in 2019 with the goal of bringing schoolchildren closer the the golden age of the city. This is crucial for the UNESCO recognition.

This edition will have two blocks. One block is for Primary students, and the other for Secondary students. The ExpoRenacimiento, a recreation, festive, and educational activity, will be held in the Plaza Vazquez de Molina. It will take place from June 14-17. Participation will be open to all primary schools of the town, with more than 900 children already signing up.

The square will host different learning corners such as architecture, art, and educational games. All of these learning corners are focused on learning more about the Renaissance period in the city's history. Jeronimo Garcia (Councilor for Celebrations), stated that children should learn through play. He explained that the idea is for children to learn from an early age how to respect and love the city's heritage, and then preserve it for future generations.

For the first time, secondary school students from different institutions of the city will be able to take part in guided tours that will visit various important and emblematic spaces. Garcia stated that this tour will help students become more aware of the city's heritage and the reasons for its declaration. He also said that it would make them appreciate the monumentality of the city. This week has already seen the first visits.
