Maas is hoping to end the irritation by Bolsonaro

As the first representative of a European government, visited foreign Minister Maas President Bolsonaro in Brazil. He did not spare critical words, and met surprisingly little opposition.

Brazil's new government is and will remain a difficult Partner, but at least in small steps again to old friends, such as Germany.

Maas said he had also addressed the controversial points, such as Bolsonaros failures against minorities, or his critical stance on climate change policy.

"I pointed out to him that Brazil is an important country that must play in the international community of its role," says Maas.
