Fear of new confrontations between gangs in Odense

It is a creepy time in the Odense district of Vollsmose, where a conflict between the two gangs is pending. And there is no immediate prospect of reconciliation.

Why have The Police decided to extend a visitationszone and a so-called sharpened strafzone in the area up to 30. July at 15.

Visitationszonen was created 18. June, after a shooting incident, in which no persons were hit. After another of gunfire, which killed a 31-year-old man's life, was the sharpened strafzone introduced 25. June.

Within visitationszonen, the police have the opportunity to examine persons and vehicles for illegal weapons and substances without any justified suspicion.

Visitationszonen include Vollsmose and Korsløkkeparken, while the sharpened strafzone applies in parts of Vollsmose.

The enhanced strafzone means that the penalty for certain forms of crime are doubled compared to the 'current practice' in the rest of society.

In two different decisions justifying the police commissioner in The Police Arne Gram of the decision to extend the two zones.

On the sharpened strafzone it sounds, that there is an 'extraordinary kriminalitetsbillede' in Vollsmose. In addition, writes to the chief constable:

- The Police fear that it may come to further violent confrontations between members of these clusters during use of the weapon.

Since 18. June, the police have made 270 searches within visitationszonen. In this connection, the police have confiscated 14 knives, 12 pepperspray, four boldtræ, a baseball bat, two hjulnøgler and a pipes.
