DN Opinion. Airlines cheap bränslenota is incomprehensible

the Investigation of the Maria Wetterstrand of biofuel for the airline industry shifts focus from the main problem, namely that the airlines compared to other carriers only pay a quarter of the price of petrol.

Commercial airlines pay about four dollars per gallon of gasoline and 6 per cent in the vat. A Swedish bus company pays around 16 sek per liter of gasoline and 25 per cent in vat. This creates a most incomprehensible and unfair competition.

a Total of subsidized home - and utrikesflyget with approximately 8.4 governmental billion per year in Sweden. No wonder it is more expensive to ride a taxi to the airport than to fly to Mallorca.

international aviation is governed by the UN body, ICAO, which makes use of the Chicago convention signed in 1944. In this convention there is a letter that prohibits the taxation of aviation fuel on the plane to travel between two different countries.

in other words, long before the present acute climatic challenge became a fact. Against this background, it is strange that not even the national air traffic is taxed in full.
