Yet Britain is still an EU member. But the British government deleted the words "European Union" above the words "United Kingdom" already, in the assumption that the much talked about brexit on 29 march would take place.

The British ministry of Interior said in a statement that the deletion of the EU text is part of a restyling of the passport in two phases. Ultimately, that lead to the issue of the classical, old blue British passport, presumably at the end of 2019.
