US: Israel's settlement construction is not a violation of international law

The U.S. government sees in the Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank, no violation of international law and more. US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo announced the u-turn on Monday in Washington.

U.S. President Donald Trump had recognized Jerusalem in December 2017 as the capital of Israel, and in the past year, the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is laid. The Palestinians can no longer recognize the USA since then as an independent mediator in the conflict with Israel.

Israel had conquered in 1967 in the six day war, including the West Bank, the Gaza strip and East Jerusalem. In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, more than 600'000 Israeli settlers live in the meantime. The Palestinians demanded the territories for their own state, with East Jerusalem as its capital. ()
