Mrs. Clinton, four years after the death of Regeni, the government of Al Sisi has not given answers about his murder: what type of information was the american government on the responsibility of the services the egyptians in the death of Giulio Regeni?
"I have information from an insider, they are not in government and I don't have access to this type of file. I know of the case of Giulio Regeni kidnapped and killed, and I found it really unacceptable that something similar could happen again, to this other guy".
How does a democratic State to a government with which we have agreements, but who denies the truth and the guilty of the murder of an Italian citizen?
"I Think that Europe and the United States need to make it very clear to Egypt, starting from president Al Sisi, that we will not tolerate cases like these that concern our fellow countrymen. This should be the base request. Can't take students of Italian or French or americans, visitors, or tourists, from the road and attack. Must be an absolute demand on the part of all governments. We know that within Egypt there is a repression that goes on, on the egyptians, and we hope that the governments condemn the thing publicly. But as a minimum we need to protect our citizens when they are visiting or studying in Egypt. One of the roles that is supposed to be the president of the United States - and for sure must have a Secretary of State - is taking place behind the scenes and in an official way, in cases such as that of Regeni. If America is absent then the european Union must make an effort to speak aloud in the name of an Italian student. There are too many schemes where people are imprisoned because of political opponents, for a critique. A behavior that must be condemned, as you need to make sure that anyone who is arrested are able to receive visits, to have legal support and is in a position to be able to defend. It is a human rights issue, but I don't think that the administration of my Country if they occupy more".
What are her biggest concerns?
"climate change is a reality and is making more and more closely the life of all of us. I'm worried by the growth of nuclear weapons, especially since Trump has blasted the agreement with Iran, which is pushing other Countries to do so, making it more dangerous to the world in which we live. I'm worried of the spread of diseases, why don't we have a system of national and international that it is able to hold up anywhere, as is happening now with the coronavirus. We will see other cases in the future, because they are connected to climate change and mobility. Certain diseases are, for example, spread by mosquitoes, which are moving to the climate change more and more to the North. And I am worried for democracy, the sustainability of democracy, because the people are angry, bored, discouraged, believes in conspiracy theories. Europe and the United States in particular does not support the life of the democratic system. I don't know what may happen elsewhere in the world: the rise of the authoritarian leaders that do not respect human rights, nothing else if not the power, it will be a point of arrival, if we continue in the path taken so far."
