World swimming championships: French record for Mahieu, qualified in the 100-meter backstroke final

Frenchwoman Pauline Mahieu qualified for the 100m backstroke final on Sunday at the Worlds in Fukuoka (Japan), beating Laure Manaudou's French record.

With an impressive time of 59 sec 30/100, the 24-year-old swimmer erased from the shelves the record of the legend of French swimming, which had held since March 2008. Mahieu thus signs the fifth time in the semi-finals and will try to win a first planetary medal on Tuesday.
