American swimmer Kate Douglass became world champion in the 200m medley ahead of her compatriot Alex Walsh on Sunday in Fukuoka (Japan). In bronze over the distance at the Tokyo Games in 2021, the 21-year-old American this time managed to take the gold medal after an impressive last length.
Reigning world champion in the 200m medley Alex Walsh, who had dominated the race for 150 meters, saw Douglass come back in the last 30 meters. The latter finally won in 2 min 7 sec 17/100, eight tenths ahead of Walsh. China's Yiting Yu takes the bronze medal.
