Tennis: a Nadal-Alcaraz double at the 2024 Olympics? “If all goes well, yes,” replies the cadet

“If all goes well, we will play doubles at the Olympics” in Paris this summer with Rafael Nadal, hoped the young Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz after his qualification for the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Madrid on Tuesday.

Asked whether he had discussed with Nadal their common dream of playing doubles together at the 2024 Olympics, “we talked about it a little,” replied Alcaraz.

“If everything goes well, as I said before, we will play doubles at the Olympics. But until then, there are many weeks left,” he observed.

“We thought it would be great if we played a tournament (together) first. But it’s going to be difficult,” added the world No.3. “On clay, the next tournaments are Rome and Roland-Garros, two really important tournaments for us in singles, and as we are not in our best physical condition, it will be difficult to play a tournament with the Games Olympics.”

The Olympic tennis tournaments are organized at Roland-Garros, on clay where Nadal triumphed fourteen times.
