AS Rome won its first match of the Italian Championship season on Sunday by crushing bottom-placed Empoli (7-0), including the first goal in its new colors from Romelu Lukaku.
Roma took the lead after just two minutes of play, on a penalty converted by Paulo Dybala after a handball in the area by Sebastian Walukiewicz.
Renato Sanches, defector from Paris SG in the form of a loan, doubled the score with a header, six minutes later by taking a cross from Rasmus Kristensen.
Roma entered the locker room with a three-goal advantage, after an own goal from Alberto Grassi (35th), who tried to stop Cajuste, ideally launched by Romelu Lukaku.
Dybala increased the score after the break at the end of a sequence which mystified the Empoli defense (55th). He then set up Cristante for Roma's 5th goal with a 20m strike.
For his first start since his arrival on loan from Chelsea, Lukaku weighed heavily on the Empoli defense and ended up scoring in the 82nd minute, before a 7th and final goal scored by Gianluca Mancini (86th).
The team coached by Jose Mourinho had lost two of their first three matches and was in 19th place at the start of this meeting. She is now 12th (4 pts).
