Napoli's Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, injured for a month, returned to Napoli's training center on Thursday with the aim of returning to competition after the November international break.
“Osimhen did personalized treatments and exercises in the gym,” the reigning Italian champion said on his website.
Contacted by AFP, Naples did not give a date for a possible return to competition for the top scorer in the 2022-23 Italian Championship, but his coach Rudi Garcia had recently declared that he hoped to get him back after the international break of November.
Osimhen injured the biceps femoris in his right thigh while with the Nigeria team in early October. He spent two weeks in Nigeria before returning to Naples this week.
The “masked striker”, author of six goals in eight league matches this season, has so far missed three Serie A matches and two Champions League matches. He will be absent on Sunday for the Empoli reception.
Napoli's next match is scheduled for November 25 with a trip to Bergamo to face Atalanta.
Naples is 4th, seven lengths behind the leader, Inter Milan, and was held to a draw at home by Union Berlin (1-1) on Wednesday in the Champions League.
