Juventus Turin is “very confident” with a view to extending the contract of its French international Adrien Rabiot, the sporting director of the Piedmont club assured Thursday evening. “We try to establish a strong relationship with our players and their entourage and this strong relationship exists with Rabiot,” declared Cristiano Giuntoli on the sidelines of the round of 16 of the Italian Cup against Salernitana.
“We are very confident, we will see what happens. Last season it happened at the end of the season. We are happy and confident in the idea that we will continue together,” he added. Rabiot, 28, joined Juventus in July 2019 from Paris SG.
Last June, he extended his contract by one year, until June 2024 and according to the Italian press, Juve would be ready to offer the man who wore the captain's armband this season a three-year contract. The midfielder has scored three goals and provided three assists in the league this season.
Giuntoli also dismissed rumors of a departure during the winter transfer window of Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, who would be on Arsenal's shelves. “I'm not aware of anything like that, anyway, it's not for sale,” he insisted. Juve, 2nd in the championship two points behind Inter Milan, should not recruit in January “for both economic and technical reasons,” Giuntoli said.
