“Daniele De Rossi has been appointed coach of the first team until June 30, 2024,” the club wrote on its X account (ex-Twitter).

De Rossi, 40, wore the Roma jersey for 18 seasons between 2001 and 2019, before hanging up his boots in 2020 after a few months in Argentina in the Boca Juniors jersey.

World champion with Italy in 2006 (117 caps, 21 goals), the former midfielder has a relatively modest record with Roma: two editions of the Italian Cup (2007, 2008) and the Italian Super Cup. Italy 2007.

His coaching career is just as modest: he was part of the management of the Italian team for a few months (2021-22) then managed between October 2022 and February 2023 the SPAL which was then playing in the 2nd division and which was relegated to Serie C at the end of the season.
