Almost eight years after his brother Lilian, Guy Cambérabéro died this Thursday at Valence hospital (Drôme) at the age of 87. The native of Saubion in the Landes was selected 14 times with the French Vincent-de-Tyrosse (Landes), he leaves, with his inseparable brother Lilian, his native southwest to join the La Voulte club. Guy Cambérabéro won the French champion with his new club in 1970.
At the beginning of the 1960s, another Landes resident, Pierre Albaladéjo, was getting closer to retirement. Guy Cambérabéro was then one of the players to replace him at the opening. A little later, he formed, with his brother, a successful new hinge. Extremely fond of the kicking game, the “Lutin of La Voulte” scored 110 points in 14 selections under the blue tunic and still holds, with his son Didier, the French record for the number of successful transformations (9) in a match ( against Italy in 1967).
