The best goalkeeper in the world is not immune to gross mistakes. Recipient of the Lev Yachine trophy for best goalkeeper during the last Ballon d'Or ceremony, Emiliano Martinez did not celebrate this award in the best way. The Aston Villa goalkeeper cost his team a goal on Sunday during the 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest.
On a long shot from Orel Mangala (47th), the Argentinian dove but did not have a firm enough hand, only managing to deflect the trajectory of the ball... into his own goal. Martinez can do nothing, however, on the opening score of Ola Aina (5th) with a nice placed shot.
Since the World Cup final where he was the executioner of the Blues, multiplying the decisive saves, Emiliano Martinez has struggled to maintain a level worthy of his status.
