Frenchman Logan Fontaine, 24, became world champion in the 5 km open water on Wednesday in Doha, ahead of another Habs, Marc-Antoine Olivier. Fontaine won on the sidelines after 51 min 29 sec 30/100th of effort in the bay of the Old Port of Doha.

Olivier, already a silver medalist in the 10 km on Sunday, scored a second podium in the competition. The Italian Domenico Acerenza completes him by finishing 3rd. The two Frenchmen had already secured their place for the Paris Olympic Games in the 10 km, the only event which appears on the Olympic program.
