Philadelphia 76ers pivot Joel Embiid, best player (MVP) last season, was fined $35,000 (33,085 euros) for “obscene gesture” during his team's victory against Portland (126- 98) on Sunday, the NBA announced on Tuesday.
After a successful lay-up despite an opponent's fault, Embiid celebrated his action in the style of the old group of wrestlers D-Generation the NBA.
Embiid had already used this gesture in a match, and explained his admiration for these ex-wrestling stars several years ago.
The Cameroonian has had a good start to the season with the Sixers (two wins, one loss) with 31 points per game on average. Philadelphia hosts Toronto on Thursday.
