Rins, 27, is "recovering from his fibula and tibia injury" sustained in a fall in the Italian GP sprint at Mugello in early June. The first Frenchman, Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac), is 5th, 85 behind Bagnaia. The 2021 world champion Fabio Quartararo is 9th, 130 points behind the leader.
