End of match under high tension in Rio de Janeiro. While Botafogo led 3-0 at half-time in their stadium against Palmeiras, the visitors ultimately won 3-4. Well helped, it must be said, by the red card addressed to Adryelson, Botafogo defender, in the 76th minute.
A scenario that really did not please John Textor, owner of Olympique Lyonnais but also of Botafogo. Club jersey on his shoulders and cap on his head, the American went down to the edge of the pitch to voice his version of the facts. “It’s corruption, it’s theft!”, he shouts to a journalist, beside himself, before asking the referee to “resign tomorrow morning”.
Textor laments that the Brazilian championship has “become a joke” and says “things must change”. An outing which will not fail to get him into trouble with the disciplinary committee. “You can come and get me and give me a red card, it’s my stadium, I’ll still be here.”
