“I deserve the money I earn”: Kylian Mbappé reveals himself to Élise Lucet in Envoyé Spécial

A (to say the least) surprising encounter. And a cleverly prepared communication operation, while his name keeps coming back in the news since he is at the end of his contract with PSG next June. Each of his words is scrutinized by everyone. The clues are sown. Doubt more than ever maintained. This Thursday evening, on France 2, Kylian Mbappé will face Élise Lucet for almost thirty minutes. The interview, recorded on December 18, 2023 in Paris, will be broadcast as part of the issue of Envoyé Spécial dedicated to Inspired by Kylian Mbappé (IBKM), the charity association of the football star.

An event that should (absolutely) not be missed. Indeed, usually not very talkative in front of journalists, the Paris SG striker would deliver “rare” confidences (in particular) about his personal life. “The magazine is worth the detour because, facing Lucet, his eyes sparkling, in contrast to his image as a puncher who terrorizes the powerful, the PSG player, all smiles, drops the mask,” reveals Le Parisien who had the opportunity to preview the interview.

During the interview, “KM7” would discuss various topics. Jumble: his two World Cups, his desire to participate in the Olympics, his meeting with “King” Pelé in 2019, “his desire to start a family”, “a very surprising 3rd year internship”, racism “unacceptable » of which he was a victim, or even his relationship with celebrity, confident - as we could see in an extract broadcast at the beginning of January - having lost "the spontaneity of the human being" and no longer being able to seek a baguette from the bakery. The 2018 World Champion also spoke about his “close” relationship with his mother, Fayza Lamari, who takes care of IBKM.

This foundation, which financially supports 98 teenagers (1998 being the year of birth of the player) in their studies and their “professional debut”, is the “legacy” of the current top scorer in Ligue 1. He would like it to continues to exist and act “even after [him]”. To help these young people realize their dreams, the “Crack de Bondy” would donate 30% of the profits generated by its companies. A very nice sum, without a doubt.

And speaking of money, Kylian Mbappé - who would receive almost €100 million per year - would not have (totally) avoided the subject. “Honestly, I don’t know exactly…At 12, I also thought there was too much money in football. I deserve the money I earn. I didn't steal it from anyone. The world works like that,” he would confide. And for him, Inspired by Kylian Mbappé is a way to redistribute (part) of his income. “The idea [of the foundation, editor’s note] came before I received any money. Receiving money made it possible to carry out the project,” he would specify. There is no doubt that with his future contract, at Paris SG or elsewhere (Real Madrid?), he should (still) have the means to finance his association.
