The Ferraris of Carlos Sainz Jr and Charles Leclerc achieved the two best times on Friday in the only free practice session before qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix in Formula 1.
The Spaniard Sainz was 108/1000 ahead of his Monegasque teammate. The Briton George Russell (Mercedes), the German Nico Hülkenberg (Haas) and the Thai Alexander Albon (Williams) complete the Top 5 in a session that is not very significant in terms of ranking, but essential for testing different settings on the single-seaters.
The now three-time world champion Max Verstappen is only 16th on the timesheet, his Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez 18th. The two drivers from the Austrian firm competed throughout the session on hard tires, slower than the soft ones chosen by the Ferraris.
For the sixth and final time of the season, a sprint race will take place on Saturday before the Grand Prix on Sunday. Friday's qualifying, held at 7:00 p.m. Paris time, defines the starting grid for Sunday. On the other hand, a proper qualification will take place on Saturday for the sprint.
