Football: Sky pays nearly a billion euros for the broadcast of English D2, D3 and D4

English Division 2, 3 and 4 football clubs have renewed their broadcast deal with Sky for 935 million pounds (1.07 billion euros) over five years, the two parties announced on Friday.

More than a thousand matches per season from Championship, League One and League Two will be broadcast. The ban on live broadcasting in Great Britain of matches kicking off at 3:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. GMT) is maintained.

The deal, which covers the period from 2024/2025 to 2028/2029, consists of £895 million in broadcast rights and £40 million in commercial rights.

It represents a 50% increase from the previous deal which expires at the end of the current season.
