Football: four new players in the Spain list

Full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, goalkeeper Álex Remiro and midfielders Aleix Garcia and Rodrigo Riquelme are the new additions to the list unveiled Friday by Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente for the next qualifying matches for Euro 2024 against Cyprus and Georgia.

Football: four new players in the Spain list

Full-back Alejandro Grimaldo, goalkeeper Álex Remiro and midfielders Aleix Garcia and Rodrigo Riquelme are the new additions to the list unveiled Friday by Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente for the next qualifying matches for Euro 2024 against Cyprus and Georgia.

Bayer Leverkusen right-back Grimaldo, 28, gets his first call-up to La Roja, thanks to his good performances with the Bundesliga leader.

Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro, 28, also makes his first appearance for the A team. He replaces the injured Kepa of Real Madrid.

Aleix Garcia, 26, midfielder of surprise La Liga leaders Girona, and Rodrigo Riquelme, 23, of Atlético Madrid, complete the list of new players in a group set to face Cyprus on November 16 and Georgia on three days later. The challenge for Spain, which already has its ticket for the Euro, is to finish at the top of Group A.
