Lyon international striker Delphine Cascarino, who was operated on for a serious knee injury, returned to competition on Sunday during a Coupe de France round of 16 match won 6-0 by OL against Nantes (D2).
Cascarino (26), who remained unavailable for eight months, came into play in the 70th minute in place of Amel Majri.
The player was injured on May 25 against Paris Saint-Germain and had to withdraw from the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. She had undergone surgery for a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
“It’s an immense joy to have returned to the pitch today. I've been waiting for this for a very long time, it's been a lot of work. I am very happy. It was important to find playing time and enjoyment because I went through difficult times,” Delphine Cascarino told OL media.
