Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is forced to give up Germany's two friendly matches, Saturday against Turkey in Berlin (8:45 p.m.) and Tuesday in Vienna against Austria (8:45 p.m.), German coach Julian announced on Friday Nagelsmann. Marc-André ter Stegen suffers from back pain and will return to Barcelona for treatment at his club, said Julian Nagelsmann, on the eve of hosting Turkey.
“We will wait until training and decide together,” added Nagelsmann, when asked who will start in the German goals on Saturday evening. The 36-year-old German coach has Kevin Trapp (Eintracht Frankfurt), Oliver Baumann (Hoffenheim) and Janis Blaswich (RB Leipzig). He did not recall Manuel Neuer, back in goal for Bayern after his serious injury to his right leg but still a little too short for this international window. Neuer should return to the selection for the friendly matches in mid-March.
