Seven out of seven. Sevilla never shakes in the Europa League. For its seventh final in the competition, the Andalusian club defeated Roma on penalties (1-1, 4-1 tab) in Budapest and therefore won its seventh C3 in its history. Synonymous with qualification for the next Champions League.
In this tough final, it was the Romans who got off to the best start. After a long observation phase and a first opportunity for Spinazzola (11th), it was Dybala who struck. With just 32 minutes of playing time in May, the Argentinian made his comeback at the best time. Launched by Mancini, he perfectly adjusted Bounou with a cross shot from the left (0-1, 34th). Abused, the Sevillians finally gave a sign of life before the break with a firecracker from Rakitic which ended on the post of Rui Patricio.
And Sevilla came back in the second half with a different mentality. More determined with the entries of Lamela and Suso, the Andalusians immediately picked up thanks to a c.s.c from Mancini following a cross from Jesus Navas (1-1, 55th). This had the merit of waking up Roma. On a free kick, after a discount from Ibanez, Abraham stumbled at close range on Bounou (67th). Imitated a few minutes later by Belotti (84th). Both teams then went into overtime. Two lackluster periods marked by Smalling's crossbar after added time (120th 10).
The decision was therefore made on penalties and in this game, the Sevillians were perfect. Ocampos, Lamela, Rakitic and Montiel scored as Mancini fired past Bounou and Ibanez found the post. First defeat in the European final for José Mourinho.
