Two matches of the Israeli national team counting for Euro 2024 qualifying have been relocated to Hungary, UEFA announced on Tuesday, with no meeting being able to be organized on Israeli soil for security reasons linked to the conflict pitting Israel against Palestinian Hamas.
Israel will face Switzerland on November 15 before facing Romania on November 18, with both matches scheduled in the town of Felcsút in Hungary. Before these two meetings initially supposed to take place in Israel, the Israeli players will travel to Kosovo on November 12, according to the UEFA website. This game, first scheduled for October 15, had also been postponed, the Israeli authorities having prohibited their national team from “traveling abroad”. Israel will complete Euro 2024 qualifying on November 21 in Andorra. After six matches played, Israel is in 3rd place in Group I.
