Euro 2023 volleyball: France in the semi-final after its victory against Romania

The adventure goes on. The reigning Olympic champions will go to Rome to play a semi-final at this Euro volleyball event. “Easy” victory in three sets for the France team against Romania: 25-22, 25-14, 27-25.

A very tight first set and the French who are constantly chasing the score, failing to gain the upper hand. Still behind by one or two points, Andrea Giani's players will however accelerate at the end of the first round to give the Romanians a 6-1 and take the lead in this match.

The second round will be quick for the French. 6-1 then 12-3 before relaxing a little and sharing the points at the end of the set. The Blues pocket this second round in less than 30 minutes of play.

Like the first, the third set was tighter until the end. The Romanians fought back and were in the lead for a long time, even leading by four points at the end of the round. But again the French will make the difference at the very end of the set and finally win 27 to 25.

The reigning Olympic champions qualified for the Euro semi-finals. They will face either Italy or the Netherlands this Thursday in Rome. A Euro which is intended to be a dress rehearsal less than a year before the Olympic Games at home.
