England: Maguire’s new own goal against Scotland

Opposed to Scotland this Tuesday, the Three Lions won without difficulty with a score of three goals to one. The four scorers of the match were English: Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham and finally captain Harry Kane were responsible for scoring their team's goals. The fourth scorer was none other than Harry Maguire, who scored the only Scottish goal of the match, with an own goal in the 67th minute. Following a cross into the English area, the 30-year-old wanted to push the ball away which ultimately ended up in his own net.

Since his record transfer for a defender in 2019 to Manchester United, Harry Maguire has been going through an ordeal. On the one hand because of his level of play which has not always been exemplary, of course. But above all because of the media and popular treatment reserved for him, particularly on social networks. The one who was an executive of the English selection is today mocked for his errors, which are the subject of video compilations. Which obviously doesn't help him regain confidence.

England manager Gareth Southgate supported him after the match, saying he had “never seen a player treated like this”. Following this own goal scored last night, the cabal against Maguire has resumed on social networks.
