Diving Worlds: third consecutive title for Wang on the 3m springboard

China's Wang Zongyuan was crowned world champion in 3-meter diving for the third time in a row on Wednesday at the World Championships in Doha.

Already titled in the synchronized event on Sunday, Wang Zongyan won with a cumulative score of 538.70 points after the six jumps. He had already been crowned last year in Fukuoka as well as in Budapest in 2022. At 26, he won the eighth world gold medal of his career.

Wang finished ahead of his compatriot Xie Siyi, silver medalist with 516.10 points. The promising 19-year-old Mexican Oscar Olvera Ibarra took the bronze medal with 498.40 points.

Unsurprisingly, China has dominated the majority of diving events since the start of the Doha Worlds. The country had already achieved a double on Monday in the women's ten-meter springboard event.
