The used market, December's growth

Grows the used market. The changes of ownership of the car, net of minivolture (temporary transfers on behalf of the dealer in anticipation of resale to the final customer), in December 2019, have registered a slight monthly expansion of 1.2%, which, however, drops into negative territory in terms of daily average (3.9 percent) due to the presence of a working day more than in the corresponding month of 2018. In December for every 100 new cars were sold 162 of second-hand, and 159 in the course of the entire year.

In the face of declining of the first registration of diesel cars, which is also reflected in December (down 11.2% compared to the same period in 2018, with a monthly quota of market that is reduced by 47,1% to 36,8%), there was a slight increase of the ownership for this category of car, with a monthly expansion of 0.2%, which leads to 51,1% of the market share of vehicles powered by diesel fuel for the entire 2019.

continuing the theme of early inscriptions, in 2019, in the aggregate, was recorded a decrease of 21.9% compared to the diesel car compared to a growth of 26.1% for gasoline. Accordingly, we would report a net decrease in the share of the car in diesel fuel on total number of registrations: from 51,4% 2018 40% 2019, so that with the comparison to 45.7% in 2019, the new car gasoline exceeds the percentage of those fuelled by diesel.

the Positive changes in ownership of motorcycles, which in December recorded, net of minivolture, a monthly expansion of 3.6% (or 1.5% in terms of daily average).

Overall, in 2019, the used market has ended in increments of 0.5% for passenger cars and 0.2% for all vehicles, while the sector of motorcycles has registered a decline of 0.3%.

The data are reported in the last bulletin, the monthly “Auto-Trend”, the statistical analysis made by the Automobile Club of Italy on data from the PRA, available on the website www.aci.it

7% in December for the radiation of the four wheels, (mainly determined by the rise of those for export, +17.3% compared to the same period in 2018), with the daily average of +1.7% up 18.2% for the wheels (+12,3% the average daily). The unitary rate of replacement of the car park in December is equal to 0,89 (every 100 cars entered were radiated 89) and to 0.79 for the full year.

In 2019, the radiation generated increases of 2.3% for passenger cars and 2% for all vehicles, while for motorcycles the sign is -4,8%.

Considering the positive balance of the car between first registration and radiation (approximately 408.000 units) it is expected a new increase of the fleet to the 31-12-2019 of more than 1%.
