AS in several other cases of the past, the emergency Covid-19 is becoming in China a golden opportunity to tighten the grip on the already stifling personal control of the citizens. The story is told in a long article in the New York Times which illustrates the operation of an application, called Alipay Health Code , that several weeks, and in certain areas is branding in a very deep way the lives of the people. The application, made by a subsidiary of the giant e-commerce Alibaba, generates for each registered user a QR code of a different color: green, yellow, or red. In the first case, you can circulate almost freely, while always scanning the code at the entrance of places such as condominiums, offices, or shopping centers. In the second and third access or movements are not allowed, and, indeed, you must remain in quarantine prior to seven or 14 days. The point is that nobody knows exactly how the system, from where take the data, on what basis for attributing a different color to each user (seen that in many cases, the person is not infected with the coronavirus) and to move without it has become very difficult.
