Enel X, via the project Amber-Electrify Europe

Enel X proceed full-scale for the implementation of the network of charging for electric vehicles. The business line services advanced energy group Enel, has completed the phase related to the funding contracts required by the project, Amber-Electrify Europe (Amber-E).

The project, which includes the installation of charging stations in Italy, Spain and Romania, the benefits of joint financing of the executive Agency for the innovation and nets (Inea) of the european Commission, through its program “connecting Europe facility” (Cef) and from the european investment Bank (Eib), in addition to the resources provided by Enel X.

By 2022, Amber-And, coordinated by Enel X and created by its local companies in Italy, Spain and Romania, will lead to the installation of more than 3,000 charging infrastructure for electric vehicles along seven main corridors of the trans-european transport network (Ten-T), which include the major roads in the urban junctions along primary routes.

These structures, with charging points Quick (up to 22 kW Ac), Fast (up to 50 kW Dc each) and Ultra-Fast (up to 350 kW Dc each), will become part of the public network of charging infrastructure, Enel X in the three Countries concerned.

The network will be able to stock up on registered users through the app “Juice Pass”: Enel X and through the app of the interoperability partners Enel X, which adds the possibility to access also to non-registered users through payments ad hoc.

With the project Amber-And you want to reduce the recharge time for travelling over long distances between Italy, Spain and Romania, thus promoting the electric mobility cross-border, which today still represents one of the fears of potential customers of electric vehicles.

To report, then, that the european Commission has selected the project Amber-E in the Cef Blending Call of 2017, aimed at the maximum involvement of private capital in favour of initiatives of sustainable transport, in order to decrease the dependence on oil and for a transport policy more environmentally friendly.

Overall, the project will require an investment of 70,75 million euro, inclusive of 14,15 million coming from a grant from the european Commission through the Inea that will give way for the installation of charging points, standard, and accessible to all, to bridge the gap in the development of electric mobility in the different member countries of the Eu.

Also, it will be included in the project a part of the loan of 115 million euros, subscribed in 2018 with the european investment Bank (Eib) for the installation of up to 14,000 charging points public throughout Italy by 2022.

“it Is very clear that the future of transport consists of a gradual and progressive decarbonisation of the industry and the european Commission with its “Green Deal” is the Ine with the projects that it manages, helping to achieve the ambitious goal of zero-emissions in the transport sector – said Dirk Beckers, director of the Ine – Thanks to projects such as Amber,-And, the citizens and the companies can see that this is not mere good intentions, but of concrete initiatives that are already happening here and now: together, we are giving life to the revolution of electric mobility! ”.

“Thanks to this ambitious project, we build complete solutions for public charging available to users of electric vehicles in some leading european markets where we operate, " he added, Francesco Venturini, Ceo of Enel X – The project support given by the institutions, like the european Commission and the Eib, is of fundamental importance in the early stages of the development of the technology for the electric mobility, and is essential to open the way to a pan-european network interconnected, that will make it possible for the mass adoption of electric vehicles”.
