Calibra, the draft digital portfolio of Facebook, becomes a Novi

Facebook has renamed the Calibra, its future virtual wallet that will enable use of the digital currency Libra, in "Novi", a way to distance themselves even more from the currency project originally launched by the social network, but whose ambitions have been revised downward.

"We hope to be able to present an initial version of the Novi as soon as the network Libra will be available," says the group, which promises "of money transfers to the international instant, secure and no hidden fees". The american giant has presented in June 2019 and its project of digital currency Libra, which should see the light of day in 2020.

Strongly criticized for months by governments and regulatory authorities, who saw it as a threat to their sovereignty and potentially a bargain for the money transfers to be fraudulent, the project has evolved.

A "currency to multiple currencies"

The network had insisted on the separation with the controversial Libra.
