The United States has racked up a bunch of gold medals through the first week of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

As the Olympics marche onward, there have been many triumphs and upsets as well as some surprises in Tokyo.

Below is a list of Americans that have won gold medals in the Summer Olympics.

Caeleb Dressel (24 years old) accumulated five gold medals, one for each race in which he was eligible. This earned him a place on the swimming's Mount Rushmore. Dressel won the 50-meter freestyle with dominance and also performed a stunning butterfly leg for the U.S. team, breaking a 12-year-old record to win gold in the 4x100 Medley relay.

Amber English, 31, is a top skeet shooter in the world. She won her first Olympic gold medal at the event. English is a U.S Army 1st Lieutenant.

Robert Finke (21 years old) made history by becoming the first man to win the 800 meter freestyle. This event was a first in the men's division for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This was his first ever gold medal. He also won gold at the 1500-meter freestyle.

Vincent Hancock (32), won his third individual gold medal in Skeet Shooting. He won the 2008 Olympics and 2012 Olympics.

Lydia Jacoby (17 years old) became the first Alaskan to win a Gold Medal at the Summer Olympics. She won the 100-meter breaststroke.

Chase Kalisz (27 years old) was the first American to earn a gold medal at 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He won the 400-meter Medley. In 2016, he had won the 400-meter medley.

Lee Kiefer (27 years old) became the first American fencer ever to win a individual foil gold medal. She was awarded the third overall gold medal in Tokyo by the Americans.

Katie Ledecky continued to dominate the pool. The 24-year old participated in the 1500-meter freestyle and won gold. For the third consecutive Olympic appearance, she won gold in the 800-meter freestyle women's event.

Suni Lee performed a flawless performance in the individual all around in Simone Biles’ absence. She was the first Hmong American woman to win the gold medal.

Carissa Moore (28), introduced surfing to the world at the Olympics. She won gold for the U.S. in women's shortboard.

Xander Schauffele made two crucial putts at final for a 4-under 67, and a one shot victory over Rory Sabbatini from Slovakia in a wild end to the men's tournament.

William Shaner (20 years old) won the gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle race. After winning gold at the 2020 World Cup, he was eligible for the Olympics. This was his first Olympic gold medal.
