Next season, Huetor Tajar will be playing the Copa del Rey

It was a historic day in football for the province of Granada. The RFEF confirmed that CD Huetor Tajar has been classified to the Copa del Rey2023. After finishing second in the third RFEF's group IX, the panciverdes waited to hear the good news. Because of their coefficient of points, the Huetenos were kept in suspense by the recent changes in structure in national football. They will be playing in the Cup for only the second time in their history (born 1940). It is true that the competition will be limited to the top seven seconds and 18 champions. Huetor Tajar is one of those teams.

You don't even have to play any preview. They are in the first round naturally, which is a tie in which all of the Spanish teams except the four super cup holders (Real Madrid Valencia Real Betis Barcelona) are in the running. Huetor Tajar, as one of the smallest clubs in the competition has many opportunities to host a second team in its stadium. Two options would be available to face a first. Out of 16 teams that entered the first round, 10 will take on Division of Honor teams, while four will take on Federation Cup teams. Two teams from the Huetor Tajar (third RFEF) will face a top-category team. Rest of the teams will be against second or first RFEF teams.

The Copa del Rey could host more teams from Granada. Cullar Vega, Maracena, and the Andalusian cup dispute will give away two more tickets to the competition, but they would need to face an inter-territorial preliminary like that played by the Atarfe last year.

Cullar Vega is currently in the round 16 while Maracena will be in the quarterfinals because of their DH classification. To reach Copa del Rey, one of these teams must play in the final. The two Granadans will face off in the semifinal, but not against each other, since the cup pairs clubs from Eastern Andalusia and Western Andalusia. The Andalusia Cup's two finalist qualify for the interterritorial preview.
