Kentucky Football hires Illinois Urges Orlando Antigua, Ron Coleman to Team

Following one of the worst seasons in Kentucky basketball background, John Calipari dipped to the transport pool of trainers to signal two-thirds of Illinois' staff.

Illinois assistants Orlando Antigua, formerly an integral associate of Calipari's employees, and Ron Coleman have united Kentucky's employees, the Wildcats declared Thursday.

The motions follow Kentucky's 9-16 season, which had been the program's first sub-.500 effort because Eddie Sutton's 13-19 album in 1988-89. Coupled with the app's overlooks the recruitment trail in the past several years and also a jaw-dropping stretch without a Final Four berth, buzz around a shake-up began shortly after the period ended.

Antigua is a recognizable face for Calipari, having served on his team at Memphis and Kentucky.

"I think everybody understands what we managed to perform with Orlando as part of our staff moving into the Sweet Sixteen in our final season at Memphis and creating three Final Fours having a national name at Kentucky in his five seasons. But besides our team achievement, he brings an uplifting soul and a work ethic which can help create relationships which are so needed in school basketball inside your team and about the recruitment trail. All that begins within our team, and I am excited that he wished to return with us to receive our program back to where we all are aware that it has to be."

Coleman also played a vital function for an Illinois team that procured a top seed at the NCAA championship and aided Kofi Cockburn and Ayo Dosunmu develop into NBA prospects.

"You're speaking about another positive, positive coach who's going to attract the soul that has ever been part of our culture. He's made his stripes through hard labour and building relationships across the nation. Chin is a grinder, somebody who relishes that time at the gym with the children to add value to a existing players, however he takes his eyes away from the lifeline of the program, which will be recruiting."

Illinois trainer Brad Underwood commended his incoming assistants to the effect they had on his own schedule.

"Orlando and Chin have been instrumental in the construction of this application from day one, and they deserve a great deal of credit for its success that we have undergone," Underwood said in a statement. "They're dear friends who I will miss working alongside daily, and I am thankful for the effect they have had on my entire life, which is larger than basketball."

Coleman and Antigua will combine Jai Lucas, who came last summer, on Calipari's employees for the upcoming season.
