Diogo Jota and Nat Philips shine for Liverpool

Pablo Fornals gave West Ham the lead early in the game due to sloppy error in the defence by Liverpool. Mo Salah equalized in 42' minute from the penalty spot after acclaiming the penalty from a silly challenge in the box from Arthur Masuaku. It was the third time in the fourth Premier League games this season, the champions conceded first at their home Anfield. A sloppy clearance from Joe Gomez created the ball for Pablo Fornals, who scored from around 11 yards to give his team the lead.

Liverpool scored again as Jota scored off a rebounded ball but it was denied by VAR for foul of Sadio Mane on Angeo Ogbonna in the 77th minute but Jota got another chance courtesy to a brilliant assist from teammate Xherdan Shaqiri and scored this team without any controversy in 85th minute to seal the victory and three points for his team.  Liverpool climbed up to the top of the table with this win and equal the 63 games unbeaten run at home.

West Ham kept the pressure throughout the game and organized 5-4-1 formation. Liverpool was facing difficult to find the momentum of the counters until Shaqiri and Jota were introduced at 70 minutes. These two subs swung the game in favour of Liverpool. Soon after coming on the pitch, Jota's effort on the rebound from the save by Fabianski from Sadio Mane's shot was ruled out by VAR, where a foul was spotted by Sadio Mane on Ogbonna. But only eight minutes later Jota has the last laugh as Shaqiri nutmegged Fabian Balbuena and made an assist to Jota who tapped the ball past the opponent keeper for the second goal for his team. Diogo Jota is only the second player after Luis Garcia to score in all of his first three Premium League appearances for Liverpool at Anfield.

Nat Phillips also had a great evening at Anfield. He kept Haller under his control and had an overall number of nine clearances, more than any player on the pitch. He was awarded the Man of the Match award for his performance. He gained possession 6 times, cleared the ball 9 times, 6 of them were headed clearances, intercepted 2 times and created 1 chance with a total of 96 touches.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp was very happy with his team's performance and praised Nat Phillips on his composure and confidence. West Ham boss was not very happy on the penalty and reacted on it. He said it was a soft penalty and it was not the penalty according to him. But he was happy for his team performance. He said that they were not clinical a few times and could have scored but were not much clinical. As for Liverpool, they have conceded the first goal in their three games out of four home league games this season, as many times as they did in all of their 19 games in last season at Anfield.
