Coviran is already covered by the ACB

Granada's basketball supporters can now declare loudly that their team will be playing next season in the best domestic league outside of the NBA.

After a long and difficult month of bureaucratic and administrative work, the CBGranada Foundation board can now rest assured that the club will be a member of the ACB.

The board has been hard at work for weeks since Coviran beat Almansa on May 13, and won the sporting jump category. The first communication from ACB to the red and black club, which was meticulous and thorough with every detail and informed them about the requirements for the Endesa League's next edition, arrived within 24 hours of the Albacete victory. The machinery was able to accelerate at maximum speed in order to reach the deadline on June 30, which had expired in principle.

Granada and Madrid have had incessant two-way communication throughout this period. There have been constant phone calls and emails, as well trips by Oscar Fernandez Arenas, the club president to Madrid. It was a tedious and difficult process, but it ended yesterday when the final documentation was sent to association and the payment for the first installment of registration was closed. This amount amounts to 492,000 euros plus VAT thanks to a loan given to Caja Rural.

The ACB General Assembly is scheduled to ratify the final registration of the red-and-black team as a full national basketball elite member. This is expected to take place in mid July. Basquet Girona will delay the appointment for a few more days, as the League statutes include this option for teams promoted later. Coviran could have held on to this option if they were in dire need, but it has not been.

Third club

The CBGranada Foundation, which will be the third local club to join the ACB when the next season begins at the end September, will take over as the ACB's third team. Six seasons of Oximesa Albolote (1986-1992) are gone. The appendage of the team was reconverted to Basketball Granada following the move to the Palacio de los Deportes Nasrid in the 92-93 academic years. The long-awaited CBGranada rojiverde is something closer to our memories. It offered twelve courses at ACB in three stages (2001-03, 2001-03, and 2004-11).

The next campaign will feature a representative from Granada, ACB. Already, the heirs of Alvarez Grbovic Lamp, King Borchardt, Gianella, Grbovic and Lamp are warming up. Granada is ACB once again. Finally.
