Celtics trade Kemba Walker into Thunder for Al Horford, Moses Brown

The Celtics are delivering defender Kemba Walker and their 2021 first-round draft pick into the Oklahoma City Thunder at Brad Stevens' initial movement accountable for Boston's leading office.

The Celtics will also exchange a second-round selection in 2025 within this bundle for veteran center Al Horford, youthful 7-footer Moses Brown plus a second-round draft choice in 2023.

The Celtics acquired Walker in the Charlotte Hornets at a commerce on July 6, 2019, which delivered Terry Rozier into Charlotte. Both swapped second-round draft selections. Prior to the transaction, Walker signed a four-year, $140.8 million maximum contract with the Hornets -- together with half due to him. He's the all-time top scorer in Hornets' franchise history (12,009 points).

Walker fought with injuries, mainly to his left knee, during the 2020-21 year old. He had been confined to 43 regular-season matches and missed the last two matches of the Celtics' loss to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round of the playoffs.

The transaction sends the 35-year-old Horford back to Boston, where he performed 2016-19. He had been a healthy scratch for Oklahoma City the last 28 games of this year and has two decades and $53.5 million remaining on his contract.

In 704 career matches (659 begins ) with the Hornets and Celtics, Walker has averaged 19.9 points, 5.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds. In his two seasons in Bostonhe had been near hitting those amounts together with 19.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

In 881 career matches (871 begins ), Horford has career averages of 13.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.

"Al played a important role both on and off the court during his time in Boston, and we are eager to welcome he and his family back into the Celtics," Stevens explained. "His capacity to elevate teammates together with his leadership and experience make for a fantastic addition."

Brown, 21, played 43 games with the Thunder final year. The 7-foot-2 centre averaged 8.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game.

Oklahoma City currently has three first-round choices in the 2021 draft: No. 16, No. 18 (obtained from the Miami Heat) and its very own, which can be set from the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday.
