Boston mourns topschutter of all times, John Havlicek Basketlegende John “Hondo” Havlicek is at the age of 79 died. The American with Czech roots won eight titles with the Boston Celtics and is the topschutter all times of the recordkampioen from the NBA.
“It is with much sadness that we the death of Celticslegende and Hall of Fame member John Havlicek have heard of it. He is at age 79, peacefully passed away,” reported the club. “John was a great champion, and we mourn with his family, friends and fans for this loss. We are grateful for the joy and inspiration he has us worried.”
Havlicek was suffering for several years from Parkinson's. He breathed his last breath in his hometown of Jupiter, Florida. Havlicek played his entire career, between 1962 and 1978, for Boston. With eight NBA titles, he only needs his teammates Bill Russell (eleven titles) and Sam Jones (ten titles) is a step behind. Havlicek, no finals lost, made a total of 26.395 points and is thus the topschutter all times of the Celtics. Thirteen times he was selected for the All Star Game. After his career chose Havlicek not for the trainerschap. Thanks to a number of lucrative investments in the hospitality industry, he could enjoy a carefree retirement.
